Prior to joining BlackRock in 2012, Rafael served as an Equity & Fund Derivatives Structurer at Bank America Merrill Lynch and had joined Merrill Lynch Global Markets Graduate Program back in 2008. Rafael graduated from EDHEC Business School (programme Grande Ecole).

Christopher T. Downing, PhD, is a managing director in the Model Portfolios & Solutions team in the Multi-Asset Strategies group, based in Hong Kong. Dr. Downing leads a team responsible for the development and management of asset-allocation models implemented over iShares ETFs and BlackRock active funds. Dr. Downing's service with BlackRock dates back to 2007. He has led investment research teams in Scientific Fixed Income, the Global Market Strategies Group, and iShares, focusing mainly on investment research and product development. Prior to joining BlackRock, Dr. Downing held the Gerald D. Hines chair at Rice University's Jones School of Management, teaching MBA-level courses in finance. Prior to this, he was a staff economist in the research division of the Federal Reserve Board in Washington, DC, with responsibility for various sectors of the capital markets. He holds a BA degree in economics and mathematics from the University of Wisconsin - Madison and a PhD degree in economics from the University of California - Berkeley.
