(Sharecast News) - Bezant Resources announced the start of geophysical surveying at the Kanye battery manganese project in Botswana on Monday, following positive outcomes from phase two metallurgical test work.

The AIM-traded firm said geophysical surveying, using induced polarisation and resistivity methods, would initially cover three profiles across the detrital manganese deposit, as determined by mapping and the preceding phase one drilling programme.

Pending the outcomes of the initial surveys, the plan was to extend the survey over a minimum of two kilometres along the strike, aiming to investigate the extensions to the deposit as indicated by earlier soil sampling.

The company said the primary objective of the survey was to expand the deposit's footprint by delineating targets for subsequent drilling activities.

It said the progression was envisaged to culminate in the definition of an initial mineral resource, marking a significant step forward for the Kanye project.

"We were encouraged by the results of the initial drilling programme and the metallurgical recovery test work which demonstrated that the Kanye mineralisation is potentially suitable for processing to high purity manganese and therefore of significant potential value," said executive chairman Colin Bird.

"The new geophysical survey is designed to define the size and scope of the project prior to further drilling.

"We will advise the market on the outcome of the survey work and plans for the drilling programme that emerges, if appropriate."

At 1125 BST, shares in Bezant Resources were down 5.26% at 0.02p.
