(Sharecast News) - Tekcapital announced on Tuesday that its portfolio company Guident has secured additional intellectual property protection for its autonomous vehicle remote monitoring and control technology in Europe.

The AIM-traded firm said Guident had successfully validated its European patent grant 4097550, securing patent protection in 20 European countries, including major markets such as the UK, Germany, France, and Italy.

It said the patented technology covered Guident's autonomous vehicle remote monitoring and control centre (RMCC), which employs distributed sensor fusion and artificial intelligence to receive and analyse sensor data from multiple autonomous vehicles, including those not directly under RMCC control.

The system can assess incident risk levels, implement safety measures, and take direct control of vehicles when necessary, returning control once safe operating conditions are restored.

In addition to its European expansion, Guident had received a notice of allowance from the US Patent and Trademark Office for its US patent application 17/579,203.

That patent covers a near real-time data and video streaming system designed to enhance the safety of autonomous vehicles, robots, and drones by enabling remote monitoring and communication through advanced camera sensor technologies.

The company said it expected the patent to be formally issued once the necessary fees were paid.

"We believe our successful validation of European patent grant 4097550 across 20 countries marks a significant milestone in advancing Guident's mission to enhance the safety of autonomous vehicles through innovative AI and sensor fusion technology of our remote monitoring and control IP portfolio," said Guident executive chairman Harald Braun.

"Coupled with the anticipated forthcoming issuance of our US patent for near real-time data and video streaming systems, we believe we are setting new standards for the safety and reliability of autonomous vehicles, robots, and drones.

"These achievements exemplify Guident's commitment to driving the future of smarter and safer mobility solutions."

At 1206 GMT, shares in Tekcapital were flat at 9.75p.
