(Sharecast News) - Thousands of HSBC customers in the UK were unable to access their accounts online or via phone on Friday as the bank's system crashed.

More than 7,000 people had reported issues via the Downdetector website.

HSBC issued a brief statement on the X social media platform, saying its tech teams "are working hard to get these services back to normal. You can still authorise online card purchases via SMS".
