(Sharecast News) - Casual-dining hospitality group SSP has announced that its deputy chief executive and long-standing chief financial officer is to leave the company after two decades.

The company, which owns brands like Millie's, Upper Crust and Camden Food Co across retail and travel locations worldwide, said in a statement on Thursday that Jonathan Davies has given his notice to retire.

He will remain on the board until 30 September but will continue as deputy CEO until the end of the year.

Davies has been CFO since SSP's original formation as part of Compass Group in 2004 through to its stock market debut in 2014. He was appointed deputy CEO in 2021.

"On behalf of the whole Board, I would like to recognise Jonathan's extraordinary achievements over his 20-year career at SSP," said chair Mike Clasper.

"In particular, he has my utmost gratitude for the way he stepped up to navigate the business successfully through the exceptional challenges of Covid-19, during which time he also acted as CEO for a period. We wish him the very best for his retirement and for what will no doubt be a very successful non-executive career."

Davies will be replaced in the CFO role by Geert Verellen, a former Walmart regional CFO and most recently the CFO of Canadian food manufacturer Maple Leef Foods. Verellen will join the board in June.
