(Sharecast News) - Financial markets' focus in the middle of the week will be on the latest public sector net borrowing numbers.

Consensus is for a rise from 11.25bn in November to 13.4bn for December.

Across the Channel, at 1100 BST the German central bank will release its monthly bulletin, followed by a speech from European Central Bank president Christine Lagarde at 1515 BST.

In the US, at 1800 BST the Treasury will hold an auction of 20-year debt.

Low-cost airline Easyjet is among the corporates due to update its shareholders on Wednesday.

Last November the carrier guided towards full-fiscal year capacity growth of 3% with easyJet holidays customers seen increasing by a quarter from 2.6m.

City analyst Michael Hewson notes that the company's first half tends to be loss-making with the first quarter usually representing the weakest stretch of the year.
