How to buy funds
Buying funds is quickest on our website or mobile app. You can also buy funds over the phone. Like all investments, they can fall as well as rise in value, so you could get back less than you invest.
Before you start
- You should fully research your chosen fund before you trade. This includes being comfortable with its expected performance and understanding the potential risks involved.
- You’ll need enough uninvested money in your chosen account to cover the estimated value of your trade.
How to buy on the website
- Log in online to see your accounts.
- Select 'Deal now' in the list of actions for the account you want to hold the fund.
- To search for the fund, untick all the boxes except for ‘Funds’ and enter the name of the one you want to buy, or select the relevant fund manager and sector from the drop-down menus.
- Select ‘Invest’ next to your chosen fund.
- Read the charges and Key Investor Information, and, if you’re a US Person or resident or ordinarily resident in the Republic of Ireland for tax purposes, HL’s dealing terms.
- Enter the amount you wish to invest and select 'Continue'.
- Check the details, including the fund name, share class and value/number of units you're buying.
- Select ‘Place a deal now’ to confirm your trade.
