How to transfer from one HL client to another
Here's how to transfer cash or investments from an HL Fund and Share Account or an HL Stocks and Shares ISA to someone else's HL account.
On this page
Before you start
- You can transfer cash or investments from a Fund and Share Account or Stocks and Shares ISA to someone else's Fund and Share Account. It's not possible to transfer between other types of account.
- The person you want to transfer to will need to have a Fund and Share Account open before you start the transfer.
- If you are transferring from a Stocks and Shares ISA, you should know that outside of an ISA, investments could be subject to income tax and capital gains tax. Tax rules can change, and benefits depend on your circumstances.
How to transfer by secure message
- Log in to your account.
- Open your secure messages and create a new message.
- Write a detailed instruction of what you’d like to transfer. Include the name and client number of the person you'd like to transfer to. If you're transferring investments, write the name of the investment and the number of shares or fund units to transfer. If you're transferring cash, write the amount of cash to transfer.
- Confirm in the message that this stock or cash is being gifted, and that you understand you'll have no further claim to it once it’s transferred.
- If you are transferring from a Stocks and Shares ISA, confirm that you understand that once cash or stock is withdrawn from your Stocks and Shares ISA it cannot be reinstated and you will permanently lose this portion of your ISA allowance.
