Central Asia Metals plc is a base metals producer with copper operations in Kazakhstan and a zinc and lead mine in North Macedonia. Its principal business activities are the production of copper cathodes at its 100% owned Kounrad SX-EW copper project in central Kazakhstan and the production of lead, zinc and silver at its 100% owned Sasa zinc-lead mine in North Macedonia. It owns an 80% interest in CAML Exploration, an early-stage exploration opportunity in Kazakhstan, and a 28.4% interest in Aberdeen Minerals Ltd, focused on the exploration and development of base metals opportunities in northeast Scotland. It operates the SX-EW copper recovery plant at Kounrad, near the city of Balkhash in central Kazakhstan. This facility recovers copper from waste dumps that originated from the Kounrad open-pit copper mine. The Sasa mine is located in north-eastern North Macedonia, over 150 kilometers (km) east of the capital city, Skopje, and 10 km north of the local town, Makedonska Kamenica.
