How to change your name
If we have an old or incorrect name for you, you can update your name by completing a form.
Before you start
To change your name, you will need to send us a certified or original copy of your marriage certificate, deed poll, birth certificate or decree absolute. Make sure you have a copy of one of these documents ready.
If you are sending a certified copy, each page must be completed with the wording ‘the copy is a true and complete copy of the original’ with an original signature. The front or last page should also give full contact details of the person who has certified the copy. It must be certified by a solicitor, bank manager, stockbroker, investment manager, IFA, accountant, teacher, doctor, minister of religion or justice of the peace.
How to change your name
- Download a change of name form.
- Complete section 1 with the details we currently hold for you.
- Complete section 2 with your new name.
- If there are any additional details you need to change, complete section 3.
- Sign and date the form in section 4.
- Enclose a certified or original copy of your marriage certificate, deed poll, birth certificate or decree absolute.

What happens next
It typically takes 2 to 3 working days to process the change once we receive your form.
We will write to you to confirm your details and return your documents once your name has been updated.
